November 15, 1985 – September 25, 2018
Julie, age 32, passed away into the arms of Jesus on September 25, 2018 surrounded by her family. She fought a brave and courageous battle with brain cancer for 3 years. She beat the first tumour but was diagnosed with a second tumour in April. It was aggressive and did not respond to treatment.
Julie was born on November 15, 1985 in Abbotsford, BC. She had an infectious smile and made friends easily. Julie loved basketball from an early age and played on teams at Valley Christian School, MEI, CBC, and then in a Women’s League. She was known for her 3 point shots. She really enjoyed volunteering at kids basketball camps.
Julie was a confident woman, a comedian, a workout queen, social butterfly and loving Aunt. The last 6 months were especially tough as her physical strength was taken away and her eyesight deteriorated but her spirit remained strong and she could still make us smile. She never complained or felt sorry for herself and she was so grateful to everyone that helped her. Her faith and trust in God helped her to be at peace in the midst of her circumstances.
She will be remembered and missed by her parents Tim and Flo Rempel, sister Stephanie (Aaron) Trickett, brother Tim (Kim) Rempel, nieces Lilah, Abigail and Elayna, nephews Declan and Hunter, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Julie was predeceased by her grandparents Frank and Betty Neufeld and Henry and Margaret Rempel, and her sister-in-law Alissa Rempel (in August 2016).
A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held Friday, October 5, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Central Heights Church, 1661 McCallum Road, Abbotsford.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Julie can be made to CLIMB This is a local kids basketball camp.
